Author - L.M.Powell
Lyn Powell was born in Levin, New Zealand. Middle child of 5 she went to a
Catholic Primary School before attending Horowhenua College.

Lyn had various after school and holiday jobs before her first paid
employment working with people with special needs.

Attended Wellington Teacher’s College in 1980 and has continued to teach
ever since. A Diploma in Special Needs in 1985 led her towards continuing
teaching special people.

Lyn has always had an interest in writing and over the years has belonged
to different writing groups. In 2003 she wrote a New Zealand quiz book
published by Bateman. She has had other work published by Curriculum
Concepts. These have included New Zealand Puzzles and Quizzes and
three New Zealand Crossword books for children.

Lyn presently lives in Whangarei, New Zealand with her daughter
Emmaleigh. She has continued working with special needs children. ‘We
are all special in our own way,’ she says.

From an early age Lyn discovered fairies and never stopped believing in the
magic they can weave into our lives. She never did listen to those who told
her to stop using her imagination. She loves creating magical places where
one can escape present realities.

Illustrator - Valola Allmark (Vee)

Valola Susanne Allmark is a mature artist who has worked in many
disciplines. She showed early artistic promise as a child growing up in
Auckland.

She has worked for many years as a graphic designer, and advertising art
director, in New Zealand and Australia. She has Diplomas in Design,
Architectural Technology, Teaching and a Bachelor degree in Applied Arts
from Northtec.

She has shown versatility in painting, drawing, murals, cartooning,
sculpture, flax weaving and design, and has exhibited her work in
Whangarei.

She has contributed to theatre arts and music as a set and costume
designer, scenery painter and publicist, and is currently working as teacher.
